Company Timeline
1979 → Today
Current ownership takes the helm and begins building Imperial's reputation in the New York building trades.
Imperial relocates into larger facilities and supplies dampers to NYC's most defining projects: Rockefeller Center, Battery Park City, the Federal Reserve.
NYC Local Law 6 is amended and building codes are set to NFPA standards (NFPA 105). Imperial manufactures U.L. Listed fire/smoke dampers.
Continued growth requires a relocation into a 25,000 sq ft manufacturing facility with a 35,000 sq ft yard.
U.L. revises its fire and smoke damper standards, making older dampers ineligible for the U.L. mark. Imperial complies with the new standard, reorganizes, and manufactures the improved fire/smoke damper and smoke damper line.
The COVID-19 pandemic.
Imperial relocates to Mamaroneck, NY and recognizes the need for quicker lead times. Lean manufacturing is put into practice. The company adapts.

Our Own Shop, Our Own Schedule
Fabrication and assembly happen under one roof at 603-605 Fenimore Road, with yard space for staging multi-section assemblies before they ship. Because we do not depend on outside fabricators, a rush order or a field revision is handled by the people who built the original.
Fire/smoke dampers and smoke dampers are U.L. Listed Class I & II and accepted for use in New York City.
